With so many new festivals popping up, touting cutting edge artists, something that sets the BPM Festival apart from the rest is location, location, and location! On the new wave of destination festivals, BPM takes place on the sunny beaches of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Getting to Detroit turned out to be far more of a task than anticipated and by the time I arrived Hart Plaza was already well packed and the annual techno pilgrimage known as Movement was fully active. Anchored by Richie Hawtin’s first hometown Plastikman set in what seems like forever, the first of the three days of the 10th version of this event featured thick crowds and beats for all tastes.
