STREAM Orbital ft. Zola Jesus :: “New France” (MP3)

Eight years since their last album (and 22 years since their first), you can still spot an Orbital tune from the first four bars. Such is “New France,” the latest off the band’s upcoming ninth full-length, Wonky. Even guest vocalist Zola Jesus sounds sampled straight from the duo’s early records. Not to say the brothers Hartnoll haven’t evolved…OK, really they haven’t. But who wants Orbital to change when their patented ringing synths still make the hairs on your arm stand up.

Orbital To Release New Album, Touring UK + Exclusive Download (Video & MP3)

'Wonky' coming out April 3rd, hear 'Never' today

Paul Hartnoll, one half of production duo Orbital, explains that “When I’m writing music, if it doesn’t move you emotionally, it’s not working. It has to give me butterflies. I have to make myself cry in the studio.” This vision led to huge success for himself and his brother, Phil, as they dominated the electronic music scene throughout the 90s by releasing some seriously epic play-this-in-outer-space hits like Chime, Style, The Box, and Satan, that proved to the masses that electronic music is neither mechanical nor is it emotionless.

After a 5-year break, they’re back with an entirely new album entitled Wonky, due for release April 3rd. The album is the product of a long time spent, and has continually been refined as the Hartnoll brothers have toured across the world, test-driving the tracks and reworking them until perfection. You can see the video for the new track Never below – and be sure to follow the jump to download it for free, as well as a list of Orbital’s upcoming tour dates.

NEW Orbital :: “Never” (Video)

It’s been seven years since the brothers Hartnol gave us new music as Orbital. Now the legendary UK rave headliners are back with a new album due out next year. As a teaser, they’ve given us the video for a new song, “Never.” The clip features nighttime drive through what we assume is the duo’s home base in London. More importantly, “Never” features the melodic blips and bleeps we’ve always loved from these electronic music pioneers.

Jamie XX :: Essential Mix (MP3)

Jamie XX has more or less become a one-man facinating beat brand, pushing out an amalgamation of electronic sounds more eclectic than 100 random club DJs combined. So we’re excited as all get-out to check this two hour mix he did for BBC Radio One’s legendary Essential Mix program (a show that usually isn’t so inventive itself). The mix opens with a classic from Orbital, and then gets deep with interesting gems from Floating Points, James Blake and Jamie’s own reworkings of Gil Scott-Heron and Radiohead.

Orbital Q&A

Electronica legends talk Glastonbury, Coachella, WMC and a new album.

On June 28th, Orbital made a triumphant return to Glastonbury, the site of their famous 1994 headlining concert. Back then the helmet-lighted brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll, were among the earliest acts to bring electronic music to the festival. This year, Glasto celebrated its 40th anniversary and the Orbital brothers their 20th. …MORE
