INTERVIEW: Exile ‘Reimaging the Instrumental CD’

Go to any hip-hop show and almost everyone from the artists performing to the audience congregating will at some point repeat these six words: Hip-Hop is not on the radio. Guests include, but are not limited to: Guilty Simpson, Oh No, Talib, Karriem Riggins, Frank N Dank, and many more. Go here to sign up for more info, and peep the track listing below.

HUGE News on Dilla Colab’

It seems that Delicious Vinyl Records will be releasing an album for Dilla’s brother, Illa J, that has no release date or title as of yet. Illa J relocated from Detroit to Los Angeles after his brother’s death to start Yancey Boys Studio, using his brother’s equipment. This studio is where family magic is being made…Illa J has taken unreleased Dilla beats and worked them into an album where he will be MCing over the beats.

Mike Ross, founder of Delicious Vinyl, said that in the early years Dilla had given him some beats that piled up but never got released. Ross took these to Illa J to make this record. Ross saw these beats as Illa J’s “birthright,” and given the musical talent of the Yancey family, knew that Illa J would not dissapoint in making …
