It has always been my personal belief that psychedelia could use a little help from the bass and dance arena. Canada’s electronic musician Daniel Sniath, also known as Caribou, felt like adding exactly that to one of the singles off of Oh No Ono’s most recent albums.
Danish quintet, Oh No Ono and their latest release, Eggs is full of psychedelic synths and balanced harmonies. But Caribou wanted to take the song to a whole other level.
Caribou starts out “Eleanor Speaks” as an even more psychedelic track, layered it with echoing keys and turns into a big, fat dance track reminding me of the good ole’ progressive house days (complete with high hats). There’s nothing like a tribal house beat to make psychedelia sound even more progressive.
