Watch: Odd Future – Rella (NSFW) (Video)

First Track & Video from ‘OF Tape Vol. 2’ LP

Tyler, the Creator has just unveiled the video for Rella, the first single off Odd Future’s next LP, OF Tape Vol. 2. The video was directed by the OFWGKTA ringleader himself, under alternate pseudonym Wolf Haley. It’s a departure from the DIY style one might expect from Odd Future, with the video appearing surprisingly professional and fit-for-MTV despite OF’s feigned anti-establishmentarianism, and succeeds at being unsuited for any viewership whatsoever. It’s nothing new for OF to reach for pure shock value, but the video pushes the line more than ever – it doesn’t stop at Hodgy’s robot-parts spewing goo at girls, or the straight-edge Tyler inexplicably doing massive lines …

Tyler The Creator Wins VMA For Best New Artist

Odd Future’s chief smack-talker Tyler the Creator scored yet another major coup on Sunday, winning MTV’s coveted VMA for Best New Artist for his video, “Yonkers.” The 20-year-old rapper achieved pretty much insta-fame this year, beating out competitors Foster the People (”Pumped Up Kicks”), Big Sean (”My Last”), Kreayshawn (”Gucci Gucci”) and Wiz Khalifa (”Black and Yellow”). And in typical OFWGKTA-fashion, he went on record saying that his fellow nominees “suck.”

His obscenity-ladden acceptance speech isn’t currently available on the internet, thanks to MTV parent company Viacom, but you can see him diss Bruno Mars in an acceptance press Q&A backstage. And someone made a clip highlighting Tyler’s mom going absolute banana nuts ape-shit when her son’s name was announced. Maybe a little insight at why her offspring is so unrestrained.

Steve Albini Slams Odd Future, Tyler the Creator Lashes Back

When it comes to curmudgeons in the music industry, few can equal Steve Albini, the legendary producer (Nirvana, Pixies, Slint, PJ Harvey) and frontman for Big Black, Schellac and Rapeman let loose on the highly-hyped hip-hop crew Odd Future after sharing a shuttle to the airport with them after a festival.

“They piled in, niggering everything in sight, motherfucking the driver, boasting into the air unbidden about getting their dicks sucked and calling everyone in the area a faggot,” Albini wrote on his Electrical Audio website. He then goes on to acknowledge the fine line between art and reality, and admits that hip-hop—Odd Future or otherwise—is not is his wheelhouse, before finally concluding that, “they go out of their way to make it clear that this is not a case of regular people making …

Pusha T ft. Tyler the Creator :: “Trouble On My Mind” (MP3)

With all the buzz that’s accompanied Odd Future this year, it was inevitable that the suddenly famous Tyler the Creator would end up meeting a whole lot of celebrities (Justin Bieber!?) But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have time for real hip-hop, as proven by this new track with Pusha T of Clipse, “Trouble On My Mind.”

The tune is off of Pusha’s first solo release, Fear Of God Part 2: Let Us Pray, coming August 23rd on G.O.O.D. Music / Decon / Re-Up Gang. You can stream it over at Red Bull USA.
