Block Party’ with The Roots

In order to kick off the new school year, UCR held their 10th annual “Block Party,” this past Friday. No doubt there was lots of food, drinks and socializing, but that was not the main reason to attend the block party…one word: MUSIC. It included live sets from one of LA’s most notable hip-hop duo and “MTV’s LA Breakout Artists,” U-N-I, Oakland native, Lyrics Born and one of the biggest name in hip-hop, The Roots.

With a live band to back them, U-N-I hyped up the crowd with their energetic and up beat performance. They opened with the first single to drop off their 2007 album Fried Chicken and Watermelon, “K.R.E.A.M. (Kicks Rule Everything Around Me),” followed by their very successful single “Beautiful Day “(which is on heavy rotation on …

Bun-B & Co. Get Trill

Pitchfork Media has reported that Bun-B has enlisted some true heavyweights for his forthcoming II Trill, which shall drop Apr 29th. The record shall see the surviving half of UGK teaming with Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Mya, Chamillionaire, Mike Jones, Scott Storch, Rick Ross as well as an appearance from his late-great partner in rhyme, Pimp-C. Don’t get in the dark van with indie rappers

I'm alive. I didn't get robbed or raped and I still have my equipment. It could have been a lot worse.

The suite I woke in was dope. I didn't know Days Inn had rooms like this. I didn't feel groggy or hungover, I just had a blank area of memory and that shit is worse than a hangover, kinda. I went down to the lobby to get some coffee and I saw Onry. I gave him my story and he was like Daaaamn dude.

PB Wolf opens for idols, responds with glee

Stones Throw capo Peanut Butter Wolf just found out that he's landed a gig that's been a goal of his since he was 15 years old. And dude is kinda old, so you know that it's been a goal for a long time. But he's so excited, that we'll just let him tell you about it:

Anyone who knows me from my high school days knows I was a Beastie Boys fanatic. This was before their first album came out (I know, I'm old).
