Clipd Beaks – To Realize (Review)

Clipd Beaks

To Realize

Released by Lovepump United

The description of a musical group as a shaggy-haired quartet from California will inevitably, if only out of habit and preconditioning, lead you to believe its sound is all sunshine and beaches, rhythm guitar and surfboards, blonde-haired beauties and those comically small 1960’s drum kits that seem fit for only a small child to erratically bang on. In the case of the Clipd Beaks the connotations are wrong and, from what I can tell, the drum kit seems to be normal sized.

A Place to Bury Strangers “Keep Slipping Away” (Video)

More tour dates means another ear-slitting video for the masses.

Perhaps a cautionary tale of what happens when one spends too much time in front of the TV and gets sucked into the world of technology, “Keep Slipping Away” is the latest video from the Brooklyn trio and brings out Ackerman’s maniacal tendencies. His obsession with sounds and images is all-consuming and seems to be the cause for his decaying on-camera romance. When it looks like you’re a lobotomy patient, would you expect a happy ending?
