Nite Jewel – “It Goes Through Your Head” (DāM-FunK Clubdub) (MP3)

Try as others might, there’s still no one who can do the ’80s electro-boogie sound quite like DāM-FunK. So while some might start to grumble about his sound being one-dimensional, I don’t think anyone really wants him switching over to reggaeton either. So stop your kvetching and dig Mr. Funk’s “clubdub” or Nite Jewel’s “It Goes Through Your Head.” If this doesn’t get you wiggling, then you probably are on too many (or not enough) meds.

Caribou Set to Release Remix Album (MP3)


Caribou are following up their hot 2010 with a release of a remix album of their EP Swim.  And the title is…wait for it…Swim Remixes.  Minimalist, hip, and complete with trippy album art.  The band has selected remixes by the likes of Fuck Buttons, Junior Boys, Gold Panda, and Nite Jewel.  Check out Motor Drum Ensemble’s eight-minute take on “Leave House.”  Cowbell fans rejoice.

Live Review: Nite Jewel @ The Echo in LA (03.19.10)

While most were away at play in Austin over the weekend, a few of us L.A. dwellers stayed local capping the toasty week with a cozy, “liquid cool” Nite Jewel set at the Echo Friday night. Staying properly lo-fi with synth doused disco, languid levels filled the charmingly dingy dive to the brim. Plunking on the keyboard in her vertical red, blue and gray striped blouse, singer and SoCal native Ramona Gonzalez’s sweet high-pitched drone and easy echoes kept L.A.’s east side tuned in, turned on, and ok with not being able to make out about 97 percent of her lyrics.

Nite Jewel “What Did He Say” (Live on the Interface) (Video)

Ramona Gonzalez (aka Nite Jewel) is making sonic waves with her current release Good Evening. She talks about her artist name, how she describes her sound, the LA music scene, and talks about buying cassette tapes when she stopped by The Interface.

New Nite Jewel Song!!

Really though, who doesnt like a hipster girl who plays modern psychadellic funk? Certainly not us. Nite Jewel has been on the radar for only a short time, but her music has turned some heads. With a home-made lo-fi vibe, her music a refreshing change from the usual. Her music would be perfect in a David Lynch disco movie. Dont know what I mean, check it out:
