One of my favourite bands unleash their latest album and to kick things off with a couple of mixes of 'Capital G'. Phones is the man to perform on this package as Switch sticks to his formula. Phones' mix is dynamic, heavy and brilliant. Technically it's 4/4 but he incorporates the vocal and distorted guitars to develop the mix into a peak time dancefloor destroyer. Watch out for this at nearly every festival of the summer!

Shiny Hairy People

Exciting news on the production front: maverick video director Mark Romanek (nine inch nails, Madonna, Fiona Apple) has been hired to take on The Wolf Man at Universal. Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker wrote the script (my take on it after the jump) and Benicio del Toro stars.

Forgive a personal side note here: Both Romanek and Walker are two of the genuinely good people in Hollywood. Not only do they each have individually creative voices – Romanek dark and tragically beautiful, Walker dark and, well, hopeless – but I can speak from experience that they are down to earth talents who genuinely love film. Another reason to get all giddy about this project is that it's being produced by Universal's Mary Parent, another uniquely caring cineast who I know will shepherd …
