Depeche Mode, NIN, The Killers Cover U2 (MP3)

Most magazine promotional CDs come with one or two decent tracks and a lot of filler. But when the project is to cover U2’s iconic techno-pop album, Achtung Baby, you can recruit some serious heat for the tracklist. Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and The Killers have all recorded versions of tunes from the album for Q Magazine next CD, AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered, which came with the November issue (on stands now). You can hear the three hit-makers cover “You’re So Cruel,” “Zoostation” and “Ultraviolet (Light My Way)” respectively after the jump. …MORE

Pigeon John Tour Diary :: New Orleans…

Pigeon John is currently on tour with DJ Shadow across America. We asked the MC to check in periodicaly with URB.


Just leaving New Orleans. I tried to take Bourbon last night alone… Did a job or two. Played pool and won with strangers. Requested alot of NIN on The Dungeon’s jukebox and I felt like the city gave a me a police escort. We ate powdered doughnuts in the sun. Me and two Audrey Hepburns, were sung to… Which made me jet for a smoke or two. The show at House of Blues show was awesome. Shadow pulled it out of that old house. Great people here, glad to have shook hands. Next up Atlanta…. omg.

Then Comes Trent Reznor With A Baby Carriage

The first couple of electronic-alt rock are expecting. Mariqueen Maandig Reznor posted on her private Facebook profile that she and hubby Trent Reznor are expecting their first child—on 10/10/10 no less.

Reznor and Maandig recently released a free EP from their group, How To Destroy Angels. Looks like there’s not going to be time for a tour. Congratulations kids.

Trent Reznor To Remix U2

Spin Magazine Online

U2 are set to release a new remix album, Artificial Horizon, this January, and for the Irish band it was a chance to unleash new material from their vaults.

According to the quartet’s website, the 13-track album will be released to members of their fan club only, and will feature remixes of Bono and Co.’s latter-day work courtesy of Trent Reznor (”Vertigo”) and Justice (”Get On Your Boots”), plus by L.A. mix-master Danny Saber (”Happiness is a Warm Gun”), Irish DJ/composer/soundtrack maven David Holmes (”Beautiful Day”), and super producer Jacknife Lee (”Fast Cars”).
