Paul Hartnoll, one half of production duo Orbital, explains that “When I’m writing music, if it doesn’t move you emotionally, it’s not working. It has to give me butterflies. I have to make myself cry in the studio.” This vision led to huge success for himself and his brother, Phil, as they dominated the electronic music scene throughout the 90s by releasing some seriously epic play-this-in-outer-space hits like Chime, Style, The Box, and Satan, that proved to the masses that electronic music is neither mechanical nor is it emotionless.
After a 5-year break, they’re back with an entirely new album entitled Wonky, due for release April 3rd. The album is the product of a long time spent, and has continually been refined as the Hartnoll brothers have toured across the world, test-driving the tracks and reworking them until perfection.
