Nirvana – Christopher Lucifer (VIDEO)

This is obviously not the Nirvana that you May have believed it to be – GOTCHA!

Anyway, the band only released three discs, each receiving only a modicum of attention, although the first – a concept disc – is heralded today. Regardless of that, “Christopher Lucifer” was supposedly written to reference Island Records founder Chris Blackwell who had a bit of a disagreement with the fellows in Nirvana. Boom Bip We Love To Shop (Teen Dance Remix)

This new remix from Boom Bip might sound like some sort of tween nightmare. But it’s in fact a remix for the theme to OMG BFF LOL, an animated project by artist Charlie White currently showing at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Which in a way makes it cool. Well this was bound to happen eventually. What with their only being about a million ’80s cultural signifiers for various retro-ists musicians to use in their press pics. We knew it was gonna go sour when we got the flier for an LA party featuring Chromeo. The image features the beloved duo of Dave 1 and P-Thugg seated on the hood …

Stainless Style

Released by Lex Records

No one felt the pain of the '80s like John DeLorean. Just as the jet-setting oddball millionaire began to realize his dream of unleashing an army of gull-winged, stainless steel sports coupes unto the world, Reagan's cokeslinging goons came along and ruined him. Thus, the decade that gaveth so much (in inane excess), tooketh with ease, and we're left to foot the cultural bill. But bad decades give us what good ones cannot: endless fodder for blushing nostalgia and optimistic revisionism. Enter Neon Neon, who combine a musical reverence ...
