N.W.A. Gets a Foul Mouthed Re-Edit

Think back for second, it was 1988 and five dope boys comin’ “Straight Outta Compton” were dropping an album by the same name.  If you remember it was furor.  Politicians and the like were up arms from this new style “ganster rap” that (gasp) cursed in every verse.  God lord, what are we teaching our kids?

Fast forward 22 years. Holy shit!  My how times have changed.  That is unless you watch Comedy Central and get annoyed by the constant bleeping of Chris Rock’s entire act.  Some stones are yet to be overturned… or thrown depending on which side you are on.  If you feel like reliving those arcane glory days when words were more than words you need to hit THIS SITE.  Someone with far more time than you and I has edited out the entire Straight …

Scribble Jammed: Festival in Flux pt. 1

America’s largest independent hip-hop gathering falls victim to economic and internal pressures. Will this king of Midwest festivals rise again?

 

Summer 2009: For the first time in its 13-year history, Cincinnati’s Scribble Jam, one of America’s largest hip-hop festivals, was cancelled. The event had become a Midwest institution, featuring both independent and internationally known artists while representing all aspects of hip-hop culture including graffiti art, DJing, break-dancing and audio production. For performers and fans, the event was a chance to participate in hip-hop as a living, breathing culture.
