According to our homies at The Daily Swarm, everyone's favorite un-reunited '80s rockers (that aren't The Smiths) will be back and headling Coachella '08. Think it's just another internuts rumor? We kind of did too, at first, but the Swarmers did some research, including the confirming with Kevin Shield's manager Vinita Joshi that the band's month-old MySpace page is indeed official. Coachella head honcho responded with a resounding no comment, but when there are literally millions on the table, we don't doubt why.
From 1995 to 2003, DJ Darren Revell took Detroit listeners on a narcotic-like trip each Sunday night with his “Big Sonic Heaven” radio show. Specializing in “ethereal dream-pop, shoegaze, synth-pop, deep alternative,” the show provided a rare place on commercial airwaves for legends such as My Bloody Valentine and Portishead as well as local bands Majesty Crush and Glider. Today, Revell has revived “Big Sonic Heaven” on Los Angeles’ Indie 103.1, where it airs Monday through Thursday from 10 PM to midnight. Mixing classic cuts with choice nu-gazer sounds, “Big Sonic Heaven” remain a wonderful broadcast anomaly in a broadband world.
