Last week, Canadian electro-duo MSTRKRFT unveiled a new song, “Beards Again” with tons of infinity guitars paired up with their big beats. But as “Back In The USSA” proves, the pair is still capable of straight jackin beats with plenty of floor-filling synth lines.
MSTRKRFT’s management company has posted up an unexpected new tune on their Soundcloud page. Humorously titled “Beards Again,” the song features some serious stoner guitar riffage, which makes you wonder if this is the sound of a group running away from the electro they spawned as fast as they can. It’s not until you get to the breakdown and all of its electro pomp that you realize these guys just pretty much do whatever they want because they can.
It’s been four long years since Justice dragged us into the electro wilderness with their album † (Cross) a, only to then leave us to wander aimlessly amidst a thousand fist pumping immitators who never figured out that it takes more than saw-tooth synthesis to really move a dancefloor. But 2011 might be the year the electro children are allowed back to the promise land. A new tab has appeared on the official Justice Facebook page, titled appropriatly “CIVILIZATION,” containing what looks a whole lot like record artwork.
Ultra Music Festival has announced the initial batch of performers for their annual dance music bachannal in Miami, including easily the three biggest names in dance music—Deadmau5, David Guetta, Tiësto—to headline the event’s first three-day party. Also on the bill are global dance faves The Chemical Brothers, Benny Benassi and Sander Kleinenberg (performing an unusual live set). But beyond these mainstream mainstays, the bill is packed with popular American electro icons (MSTRKRFT, Steve Aoki, Wolfgang Gartner), crossover indie dance stars (Chromeo, !!!, Empire of the Sun, Cut Copy, Klaxons, CSS, Crystal Castles), European techno legends (Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Gui Boratto) and dozens of other top acts from Afrojack to, er, Afrobeta. …MORE
