The Smiths Check Out Band That Sounds Like The Smiths (MP3)

Morrissey, Rourke and Joyce check US buzz bad The Drums 

NME is reporting that three member of the Smiths—Morrissey, Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke—attended two separate shows by the US band The Drums while the group was on tour in the UK. This is good news for The Drums, who no doubt will get lots of extra exposure (we finally checked them out after learning this news). But it’s always interesting when veteran artists sign off on young bands who overtly sound like the senior acts. MP3: Exclusive track from Kenan Bell’s new remix project

Kenan Bell provides URB with an exclusive download from his latest project, “Good News: The Mixtape.” Bell will be releasing one track every week over 8 weeks, starting Mar 10th, of artists ranging from Gang Gang Dance and Pink Floyd to Jose Gonzalez to Neil Diamond. The project is the result of a Smiths remix that Bell did that eventually made its way through the interwebs and into Morrissey’s lap. Describing his philosophy on covering such diverse artists, Bell says “I wanted to rap over The Smiths because people said it couldn’t be done…Rap is a fatherless music.
