Moby is returning this month with his tenth studio album, Destroyed. His first double digit release finds Moby back to exploring the moody electronica he does the best. WE got a preview back in March with a free EP, The One. Now comes similarly titled “The Day,” given the remix treatment by experimental rock faves Yeasayer.

Ahhhhh yes … the month of March in Miami is known for two things: cheesy spring breakers and out-of-town ravers. Some might say they go hand in hand but this past weekend, March 25-27 to be exact, Miami was overflowing with some international jetsetting, glowstick toting, furry-boots wearing, high-class raving little monsters that Lady Gaga would be deathly proud of. Ultra Music Festival 2011 was an epic 3-day EDM heaven, proof that God is indeed a raver. Over 100,000 people from all over the globe (Brazil and Holland, to be exact) descended onto what used to be Winter Music Conference week. With the 2010 elections a distant memory, one issue that has seemingly fallen out of public view is Prop 8, the anti-gay marriage act that passed in California on the same ballot that we elected the first black president (ironic). But the fight for marriage equality isn’t over, as even our man Obama has softened his stance on the issue by declaring part of DOMA unconstitutional.
Prop 8 itself is seemingly on it’s last leg. A Federal District Court judge ruled the act unconsitutional this past August, although the ruling is pending appeal. In the meantime, Moveon.org’s Civic Action and Courage campaign is helping to keep up the pressure to fight Prop 8 with Dance For Equality, an event this Wednesday featuring a myriad of stars from the …

Needless to say, URB has a very long history with Moby, dating back to the very early ’90s. One thing we know is that he is an artist who moves from stance to stance with little regard for expectations. From rave anthems and diva house to sampledelic pop hits and moody soundscapes (and let’s not forget that metal album), it’s always interesting to hit play on a new Moby record and see what sound comes out of the speakers.
Following the brooding songwriting of 2009′s Wait For Me, Moby’s latest three song utterance, The One EP, certainly moves back to the electronica he’s still most associated with. A slew of top names have been added to the line-up for the 2011 Ultra Music Festival in Miami, filling out the line-up for the event’s first three day run—March 25-27. The biggest edition is ’80s superstars Duran Duran, who are promoting their new Mark Ronson produced album, All You Need Is Now. Simon Le Bon and company will also be appearing at Cochella in April.
Also added to the bill are Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am, electronica mainstays Underworld, dutch trance master Armin Van Burren, rave icon Moby, house music superstars Kaskade and Erick Morillo and electronic-jam group Disco Biscuits. …MORE
