In case you’ve been living under a rock for a while now, URB is a big supporter of the Brooklyn rave institution RINSED, who has come back after a very short hiatus to smash things up again in the borough that everyone is flocking to. The team behind the event series has been careful in constructing tomorrow’s event, entitling it their “Welcome Home” edition. Now, before you run off and play Metallica’s “Sanitarium (Welcome Home”), we at URB would advise you to stop, because instead of that, you should really get hyped for seeing tomorrow’s special guests, Jacques Greene (LuckyMe/VASE) and Cashmere Cat (Pelican Fly). While you’re getting hyped up for that, you should realize that tickets for tomorrow’s event are going insanely fast, and there’s not many chances to grab a ticket, unless you want to try at the door tomorrow (more on that down bel0w), but considering how long we’ve supported RINSED, we were wondering if we could get an inside look as to what the two residents of the night (Dan Wender and Blacky II) would consider some current RINSED summer jams. They took to task and brought URB back some wonderful responses. Check out their tunes, as well as a way to get some tickets for tomorrow’s event, post-jump.
It’s been a wild ride for TURRBOTAX residents Contakt and Mayster. While both producers have been part of running one of the most-lauded and eccentric monthly events in New York, they’ve also been hard at work making some serious bass-y business. Earlier in 2011, we were treated to Contakt’s debut release, Not Forgotten on the distinguished Local Action label. This time around on the all-encompassing Dutty Artz label, they bring us their newest output, Korak, which is a progressive stance on the sounds both Contakt and Mayster have been experiencing sonically on the floor as well as their own environments. Strong from start to finish, the EP is only a teaser of what’s to come from each producer. To celebrate its release –along with giving them an excuse to jam out some exclusive cuts– they’ve given URB a mix exclusive, thanks in big part to the lovely people at Dutty Artz. Peep the mix and tracklist down below.
