Matt & Kim – “Camera” (Mike D Remix) (MP3)

Sometime you just wish you could have been in the room when a call came in. Matt & Kim are known for the effervescent behavior, so one can only imagine how excite they must have been when they foun out that Mike D (yep, of the Beastie Boys) wanted to do his first ever remix on their current single, camera. Jumping and cheering and high-fives all around, no doubt.

The result is pretty exciting, although there’s not any obvious Hot Sauce thrown on by Country Mike. Just some nice electro-tinged beats.

Matt & Kim, “Cameras”

You can hear “Cameras”,  the first single of off Matt & Kim’s new album Sidewalks today! As soon as I began to stream it baby Leo began waving his tiny two month old arm like he didn’t care. I love the cartoon news intro like sound that was looped throughout the song. “Cameras” sounds like something that I would hear on a super cool musical starring judges, scandals and a city full of crime. Not to mention those overdramatic hip shaking horns made me want to get up and plié all over the west side. Sidewalks is set to be released November 2, you can also catch Matt & Kim in a city near you this upcoming fall.

Stream “Cameras” over at 107.7

Virgin Free Fest Announces 2010 Line-Up

Everyone knows that music festivals are big business, with tens of millions made (ticket sales, beer vending, corporate sponsorship) and lost (artist fees, production costs) every summer. But what happens when big business decides to throw it’s own festival? You get Virgin Free Fest. Run as a multi-city paid festival in 2006 and 2007, the mobile phone company’s attempt at playing with big dogs like Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonarroo never seemed to hit it’s stride—perhaps due to it’s location in Maryland. Then last year, super rich bad-ass mofo Richard Branson decided to make the whole shebang free, and called upon Blink-182, Weezer and Jet to bring in the masses. This year, he’s banking on a cooler selection, including Thievery Corporation, M.I.A., LCD Soundsystem and Temper Trap to do the same. …MORE
