PREMIER MartyParty :: “Ice Cream Truck” (Video & MP3)

Looking for subtle, textured, intricate sound-design that only other producers could love? Then keep walking. The latest by MartyParty comes on like an evil clown selling wicked children frozen goodies laced with acid—all angry dubstep bass, grinding synths and the ubiquitous tune played by ice cream trucks the world over. Perhaps we’ve entered a new era of dance music—an analog to the beloved UK rave tunes of old that only now are we allowed to cop to owning a copy. Think early Prodigy or “Ebeneezer Goode.” Are you rushing? Are you rushing?

“Ice Cream Truck” comes fresh (or frozen) from Martin Folb’s new Sub ON EP, due out October 4th.

URB Exclusive: MartyParty, “Blueberry Kush Mix” (MP3)

Sometimes when I listen to dub or dub-ish, I imagine that the music itself sounds like something out of a horror movie. Like if Frankenstein was remade this exact mix – “Blueberry Kush Mix” – would be the one scoring the lightning framing that dark castle in the sky; the birth of Frankenstein! If you dig it you can catch it over on Beatport and also catch MartyParty on tour now for the Monsters of Bass Tour. Track listing after the jump…

MartyParty vs. The xx and Sufjan Stevens (Premier) (MP3)

In between his bi-coastal responsibilities of teaching the NY fashion scene what it means to get crunk-nasty with partner Ooah of Glitch Mob as PANTyRAID and steering west coast dubstep toward new sonic conquests as MartyParty, Martin Folb  checks in with a bakers pair of tracks to make your mass-transit shoe gaze that much more aloof.

Mired in complexity not unlike the tools used to create it, MartyParty’s music combines the set up and bass drops the crowds anymore require along with introspective melodic tangents that have come round out his tour de force live sets.

Through tendrils of smoke and a low-frequency bass vibration unique to The Do Lab, Los Angeles’ finest purveyors of the underground, PANTyRAiD made its L.A. debut.
