Plastic Plates Shares Exclusive Live Video + Two New Tracks (MP3)

Plays Kitsuné's Club Night in Santa Monica Tomorrow Night 

As promised for the next couple of weeks URB is rolling out exclusive goodies from artists participating in this year’s Kitsuné’s Club Night US Tour. The next tour stop for the French label cum fashion house’s rock meets dance extravaganza will be a stop at The Central in Santa Monica tomorrow night and among the artists on the event’s bill will be recent Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. remixer extraordinaire, Australian prodigy/producer Plastic Plates. Previewing a live video below, underscored by his take on Simon Lebon’s vocals and spaced out ambiance, Plates, real name Felix Bloxsom, makes the track he helped bring onto the dance-floor utterly infectious and transcendent. Mark Ronson f. Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, Mos Def, Zigaboo Modeliste & The Dap Kings :: “A La Modeliste” (MP3)

Last week we got pumped on DJ Premier and Nas’ collaboration with a symphony orchestra as part of the new film, Re:Generation, which pairs successful producers with musician’s outside of their usual orbit. Today, it’s Mark Ronson’s turn, who came together with Erykah Badu, Mos Def and Trombone Shorty to record “A La Modeliste” down in New Orleans. Of course, working with vintage sounds isn’t really a new thing to Ronson, but the song sounds like it was straight lifted off an episode of Treme, which is a good thing.

DJ Premier ft. Nas and The Berklee Symphony Orchestra :: “Regeneration” (Video & MP3)

While the rest of the web seems obsessed with the as-yet-unheard and surely unholy collaboration between Skrillex and the remaining members of The Doors from the new film Regeneration, another star of the film, DJ Premier, let’s us hear what happens when a beloved producer works with an uncommon musical partner.

Premier got to go into the studio with the esteemed Berklee Symphony Orchestra, and he brought along Nas for the session. The resulting tune, “Regeneration,” features the two hip-hop icon’s legendary styles, backed up by the force of a full orchestra, creating something more powerful than your average sample jockey can squeeze out of his MPC.

Spank Rock :: “#1 Hit” (Video)

By our tally, “#1 Hit” the fifth cut we’ve now heard from Spank Rock’s new album, Everything Is Boring and Everyone Is a Fucking Liar. And like the four prior tracks, “#1 Hit” comes complete with an all-star cast of collaborators, including producers Boys Noize and Mark Ronson. Hard to imagine the electro kingpin and the man behind Amy Winehouse on the same track? Well, the tune itself is a little schizophrenic, jumping from b’more beat to synth grind to breezy breakdown. But that’s not half as weird as the video, which utterly defies description. Just watch and get weird after the jump.

Duran Duran, Underworld, Will.I.Am and More Added to Ultra Music Festival

A slew of top names have been added to the line-up for the 2011 Ultra Music Festival in Miami, filling out the line-up for the event’s first three day run—March 25-27. The biggest edition is ’80s superstars Duran Duran, who are promoting their new Mark Ronson produced album, All You Need Is Now. Simon Le Bon and company will also be appearing at Cochella in April.

Also added to the bill are Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am, electronica mainstays Underworld, dutch trance master Armin Van Burren, rave icon Moby, house music superstars Kaskade and Erick Morillo and electronic-jam group Disco Biscuits. …MORE
