The Havana Cultura Remixed album is now in stores.  What first was inspired as a mission to find the next generation of Cuban artists, the Havana Cultura Remixed album pairs some of today’s biggest Producer/DJs to remix the original tracks from Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura Band.  The stellar line up of remixes include work from Carl Cox, Marc Mac of 4Hero, MJ Cole, Seiji, Louie Vega and many others.

Check out this video of Gilles Peterson as he digs for records in Havana, Cuba.  Finding a “gold mine” of records ranging from jazz, disco, electronic, and spiritual, Gilles gives viewers an inside look on his various finds that day.

To years ago, Gilles visited Cuba for the first time on a reconnaissance mission to check out the new generation of Havana-based artists.  The fruits of his labor culminated in the album he presented, Havana Cultura, which was recently released but now his Brownswood Recordings imprint is preparing the release of Havana Cultura Remixed, out on June 7th, enlisting remixes …

Here’s a great song from Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura Band featuring an interpretation of J Dilla’s classic from Welcome to Detroit.  The song, Think Twice is now remixed by Marc Mac of 4hero featuring Danay & Carina with a nice Cuban twist.  Taken from the upcoming Brownswood Recordings release, Gilles Peterson Presents Havana Cultura Remixed, other remixes features Louie Vega, MJ Cole, Carl Cox, Seiji, and many others, creating new interpretations to the already amazing project featuring some of Cuba’s most inspiring new generation of musicians.
