UPDATE: Madonna Responds To Deadmau5 Criticism

UPDATE: Madonna has responded to Deadmau5’s criticism that the singer should not have promoted drug use at Ultra Music Festival by asking “Who here has seen Molly?” We don’t really buy it (the pop icon’s latest album is called MDNA) but here’s the exchange via Twitter:

“From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called ‘Have You Seen Molly’ written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my last album.” Totally innocent. She probably had no idea what ‘molly’ meant. Deadmau5 replied: “Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as i usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally.” To which she answered: “Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up ‘privately’ ;) See you on the road.” Deadmau5 squeaked back: “Sure. Regardless, just be a little more aware of what you *should* represent at EDM events, and I’ll watch my mouth.

She also included a classic photo wearing mouse ears. Pretty clever. PLUR y’all.

Daft Punk Working On New Album With Disco Legend Nile Rodgers

Famed disco icon Nile Rodgers has apparently been spending time with everyone’s favorite Parisian robots, according to an interview with the Chic frontman in Houston’s Culture Map. “Those guys are great,” said the man behind “Le Freak” and “Good Times.” “They’re coming to my apartment on Monday and we’re going to talk about making a new record together.”

This dream collaboration would mark Daft Punk’s first proper album since 2005’s rather forgettable (yet ultimately redeemed) Human After All. It’s widely believe that the new effort with Rodgers, who has produced everyone from Superbowl superstar Madonna (Like A Virgin) to David Bowie (Let’s Dance) to Michael Bolton (um…) will be an R&B-influenced affair. It’s a genre Daft Punk have already proven themselves surprisingly capable of.

M.I.A. Flips Off America During Superbowl Half-Time Show (Video)

A finger isn’t a nipple and M.I.A. certainly isn’t Janet Jackson, but that’s the main (non-)controversy coming out of last night’s Superbowl Halftime show. While performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj, the UK singer made the artistic decision to give the camera (and about 100,000,000 people) the middle finger. Why? “Adrenalin” is being named as the culprit, according to M.I.A.’s camp.

Watch the performance after the jump.

“Born This Way” is nothing like “Express Yourself”

Since Lady Gaga debuted her new single “Born This Way” at the Grammy’s the comments and comparisons between her and Madonna’s “Express Yourself” not only have made it through the twittersphere but even publications such as Rolling Stone.

All these comparisons on two songs which really have little to nothing in common besides the ponytail Lady Gaga had styled on at the Grammy’s. “Express Yourself” is a song which is more about the ability to express your needs in a relationship. While the song even if read as a metaphor or symbol of free expression would seize simply with the opening words.

“Come on girls! Do you believe in love? ‘Cause I got something to say about it, and it goes something like this”"

Then the song …
