New music Tuesday used to mean riding our bikes to the record store and weighing the value of an unheard, sealed album against that of a sandwich. Now, it means new music from Madlib and Erykah Badu. The press release says that there is no actual project attached to this wonderful song–which you should be streaming this very instant–but the goodness of “Real Thing” is tempting us to hold our breath until there is…even if it all uses familiar RJD2 sample sources, assuming they're from RJ's pre-Sufjan morphing days.
Peanut Butter Wolf and his Stones Throw crew are giving away the store starting today. A second installment of the Chrome Children comp is downloadable from the label starting today.
The first comp featured tracks from J Dilla (RIP) and while he is not an artist on this one, there's material from Madlib and the rest of the expected Stones Throw artists.

2. MED & Dabrye – Rhymes With An L
3. Roc C – Living For The City
4. Chocolate Star – Stay With Me
5. Percee P & Koushik – Reverse Part Two
6. Oh No – Gitback
7. Guilty Simpson & Four Tet – Money Motivated Movements
8. Madlib the Beat Konducta – Selah’s Children
9. Baron Zen – Theme (Danny Breaks Remix)…
T-Minus three days until the MadVillain once again plagues the world. Stones Throw and Kid Robot are putting out an action figure of the masked one on Jan 11th. In sleek vinyl, Villain comes in green and grey with movable arms and wrists.
Product description from Kid Robot below:
The illest villain of them all is back to serve more fiends…toy fiends.
Kidrobot has teamed up with Stones Throw Records to create one of the biggest toys of the new year! Straight out of the smash-hit video ‘All Caps’ comes the trench coat and fedora clad powerhouse that is Madvillain.
From the dirty dungeons of Stones Throw Records comes the blunted alter-ego of lyricist MF Doom and producer Madlib. The Madvillain character, an embodiment of Doom’s obvious comic obsession, is the kind of superhero you’ve always wanted to find …
