Of all the great moments during LCD Soundsystem’s epic farewell concert at Madison Square Garden (DVD please), one of the finest was when comedian Reggie Watts hit the stage to do the soulful male vocals on “45:33 pt. 2.” Now Watt’s has told NYMag scene columnist that he and James Murphy have made plans to work on music together. …MORE
LCD Soundsystem signed off last night with one final show at Madison Square Garden. It was fitting that a band that so clearly defined the New York aesthetic for the past decade wrap it up at the venue most associated with the Big Apple. The entire show, all 3 1/2 hours of it, was streamed on Pitchfork, making the Saturday evening gig one of the closest things the music scene gets to a communial experience in this age of earbud isolation. According to reports by NYC blog-haus BrooklynVegan, Daft Punk graced the stage with former bandmates (way back in their “Darlin’” days) and friends Phoenix as they closed out their fantastic show at Madison Square Garden. At approximately 10:50PM EST, the robot renegades showed up and apparently played a mini-set of Daft and Phoenix tunes. Just when you thought they couldn’t squeeze any more out of their year old album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, Phoenix hits us with another track, part three of the “Love Like a Sunset” series. It was produced in promotion of their Madison Square Garden show on October 20th (oh ma gahd!), and it is a beastly 8 minute piece of electronic beats. Check it out below.
