Black Kids

Nice live re-arrangements, espesh on lead vocals. Amidst the chaos I forgot to plug my audio recorder into the mixer upstairs in the VIP area, so the bass is raw. I think it’s former Liquid Sky crewmember slash Harmonie Korine muse slash designer Chloe Sevigny, who does a lovely ballerina’s standing split from the balcony.

A group of 6 guys lined up to toss a volleyball, soccer throw-in style, into the sunroof of a car about 30 feet away. Each one failed. I said to myself, self, if all you have to do to win that car is throw a ball in the sunroof, you can do it. And I did it, no spin on the ball, dropped right in and bounced off the center console back out. I won a towel.

It got cold by the time we left 8 and 1/2 hours later so I was grateful to have it afterall.

Being at Universal Studies, where flames and bombs and water shot up beyond the outdoor stage at regular intervals, then going into Gibson Ampitheatre’s large hollow dark dome, was weird. And enhanced the I-am-inside-an-ipod-on-shuffle experience, where the wheel …

Typically, the French space-synth outfit M83 makes the perfect soundtracks for skeleton costumed hooligans to chase down a frantic Ralph Macchio on motorbikes in the Karate Kid. Unfortunately, M83's new effort saunters like a slow dance from Sixteen Candles. The loud My Bloody Vangelis arena rockers are notably absent from this album. In their place are lifeless' and dare I say cheesy'pop songs that could easily be mistaken for Japanese ad jingles.
