Sonar, the world’s top electronic music festival is happening June 16, 17 and 18 in Barcelona, Spain, with headliners including Underworld, M.I.A., James Murphy, Aphex Twin and Janelle Monae. And it can all be yours for one low price.
Here’s another leftover from M.I.A.’s /\/\ /\ Y /\ album. “Zig-Zag” catches the reluctant pop star singing over a New Kids on the Block melody, probably in an ill-advised go at more chart hits. Fortunately, it seems someone was wise enough to not put this on the album. Unfortunately, nothing gets past the internet.
M.I.A. made a lot of waves last year with her violent video for “Born Free.” Finish producer Huoratron is no stranger to edgy videos. His clip for “Corporate Occult” added sex to the blood for one disturbing clip. Maybe that’s one reason why Ms. Maya signed off on his remix of “Internet Connection,” a bonus track off of her third album, /\/\/\Y/\. Or maybe she just liked his dirty-dirty electro stylings.

The past year was a bit of a rough for M.I.A. A combination of media backlash, political paranoia and an album that sadly failed to live up to extremely high expectations made us wonder if the colorful star would come back into favor. But she’s getting in the last word in 2010, dropping this mixtape of unreleased music plus some new gems produced by Diplo, Blaqstarr, Switch and M.I.A. herself.
