Bonnaroo Flashback: M.I.A. in 2008 (2 X Video) (Video)

Must be MIA @ Bonnaroo, circa 2008…It’s Bonnaroo week, and I’ll be in Tennessee day after ‘next, though I’m really already there, ‘have been for a while. Here’s an ’08 flashback and some maybe semi-new thoughts on the New York Times story. This particular show found her on the verge of deportation and about to announce a pregnancy, which makes a very nice visual metaphor out of the smiley beach ball she carried against her belly, as the lights flood through, but I digress…Hearing her sing the words “you got the people? you got the power!” reminded me of hearing Patti Smith just a few years earlier singing “People Have the Power” in this same tent
