Chemical Brothers Screen Live Show Extravaganza For U.S. Audiences (Video)

During the beginning of last night’s nation-wide screening of The Chemical Brothers’ Don’t Think, the first half hour of the mind-blowing, subsonic experience that was the 2 hour concert documentary, my time was spent thinking “How do I stop from hyperbolizing about this in the morning?”. This morning I decided that I didn’t have to.

So, firstly, I’ll ask, for the benefit of others like myself, who as awkward teenagers had to endure being mocked by friends every time Eminem spouted off the line “Nobody listens to techo!” during “Without Me”s long, painful radio run, what happened to that guy’s edge? Career? Anybody? Now, secondly, since the days zit-covered, awkward allergen magnets like myself first glimpsed the visual ride that is the video …

Sepalcure Presents An Exclusive URB Tour Diary – Part 1 (Video)

An inside look in the life of Sepalcure, inside and outside the gig.

The duo of Travis Stewart and Praveen Sharma have been mighty busy, prepping their live shows and traveling all around the world in preparation for their self-titled debut LP release on Hotflush. While the dudes have been busy wowing crowds and carefully crafting all the elements together for their live A/V show, they’ve also been going on mini-adventures, checking out what’s around them with open minds (and stomachs). URB asked Sepalcure to give us an exclusive tour diary of their latest European tour, as well as their live A/V debut in Mexico City. Praveen kindly obliged, and down below, he gives URB the skinny on all things crazy, cool and vivid. Check out the diary, the photos and the exclusive behind-the-scenes video after the jump.

Sepalcure To Debut Live A/V Show, Provide Exclusive URB Tour Diary + Free Download (MP3)

The New York/Berlin boys are busy with some good vibes.

The cross-continental production duo of Travis Stewart and Praveen Sharma are once again heading off to another country to smash it, with love, of course. Fresh off a buzzed-about performance at Unsound Festival 2011 in Krakow, Poland, Sepalcure are ready to crush it south of the border this time around. The twosome will be performing at Mutek_MX (Mexico), an event coordinated by Sony as well as the organizers of Mutek Festival, held annually in Montreal. In addition to that, this will be the first time the duo will be doing a live A/V set, accompanied by the visuals of Sougwen Chung, who has done art for all the Sepalcure releases to date. The duo will check in with URB occasionally, as they’re providing us with an exclusive tour diary. The diary will ultimately lead to their live A/V set in New York (tickets can be bough here), accompanied by Warp’s Africa Hitech doing an exclusive and rare set in the States.

So to celebrate all these great things happening to one of our favorite acts at the moment, Sepalcure is giving everyone on the internet a free download. Check out the link to “I’m Alright” after the jump.

FYF Fest 2011: The Recap

Already in its 8th installment, the redundantly named FYF (Fuck Yeah Fest) Fest made for a great day in beautiful sunny L.A. of music, comedy and fun. Taking most attendants away of the hustle and bustle of the city and the workweek, L.A’s Historic Park became the getaway site to celebrate this year’s Labor Day weekend. This year line-up featured performers like Four Tet, No Age, The Olivia Tremor Control, Glass Candy, Girls, YACHT, URB favorite and L.A. native Nosaj Thing, Explosions in the Sky, Simian Mobile Disco, and the now-considered dance-punk classics, Death From Above 1979. With others like the Descendants, Guided By Voices, Broken Social Scene, Dan Deacon, Cold War Kids, Smith Westerns, The Weakerthans, Cults, and many more, the festival offered up a variety of talent to satisfy everyone’s tastes.

Little Dragon @ The Roxy Theatre 8/15/11 (Live Review)

Fresh from the July 25th release of their third album, Ritual Union (Peacefrog Records), Little Dragon came through the famous Roxy club in West Hollywood eager to perofm new material to an intimate and elated crowd. Immensely talented, the Swedish quartet functions organically and collectively, as all members of the group substantially contribute to the overall sensation of the music: the synths are deep, the basslines heavy and pronounced, with (nu)jazz percussion facilitating movement between the soloists and the beautiful Japanese-Swedish vocalist Yukimi Nagano.

The show began with the opening track from their new album; title track “Ritual Union,” a tune threaded together with dark and hollow synthesizers with enough bounce to get a solid two-step going. An effective and delightful warm-up leading up to the equally soulful and effervescent second track …
