Nosaj Thing x Drake x The xx (MP3)

When one of LA’s hottest producers picks up tracks by hip-hop’s reigning prince and indie’s love-torn darlings, only good things will come of it. Buju Banton Turns Arrest Into Album Sales

Probably the best thing about being a famous musician is that breaking the law can actually improve your public profile. Ever since Jim Morrison allegedly let his willy out in Miami, artist have seen their notoriety escalate once the men in blue try to put them down. Call it Chris Brown syndrome if you like. Just ask Lil Wayne.

So perhaps Buju Banton was a wee bit disappointed when his arrest on cocaine charges in Florida just before the holidays failed to ignite a firestorm of coverage (sorry, we were out shopping). Maybe that’s why this morning Baton’s people sent out a press release announcing that Baton has hired “Super Lawyer” David Oscar Markus to represent the performer. …MORE

We Need More Fashawn – Less Drake (Video)

Fresno, CA rapper Fashawn’s solo debut, Boy Meets World, dropped a day after his 21st birthday. He already had several mixtapes under his belt, toured Europe and appeared on tracks with super producer The Alchemist (who produced Fashawn’s latest mixtape, The Antidote). A fatherless group home kid with a drug addict mother, he could have easily been led astray. Instead, Fashawn tempers his gritty lyrics with uplifting and hopeful messages.

Lil Wayne to Start Prison Term February

Lil Wayne has been given the date on which he will start a year-long stint in prison.

The rapper – real name Dwayne Carter – who pleaded guilty to gun charges back in October, will begin his sentence on February 9. The charges followed a 2007 arrest in New York, where police found a gun on his tour bus.
