Sweden’s latest indie buzz band, jj, veer toward the electronica-tinged pop sounds of their countrypeople—think Robyn, The Knife, Air France—on sophomore record jj n° 3, proving there’s no need to ditch a profitable formula. But jj’s elusive, publicity-eschewing band members Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander, know the secret to a steady output of bright, shiny records is not-so-happy underpinnings, bringing a sense of humanity to what, on the surface, can come across as lullaby music.

We can’t all be A-listers and it’s pretty hard for me to watch three hours of TV, so I gathered the clips that mattered to me. If you need water cooler talk, I gotcha covered.

THE EXCELLENT: With all the hoopla surrounding The Grammys, The Roots Jam Session is the hands-down winner for high-quality and a star-studded turnout. As one of the best house bands and true aficionados capable of bringing down the house, this was one of the night’s highlights. Read the full recap and photos to come soon.

Drake “Love & Gunz” x Produced by Tha Bizness (MP3)

What would a day be like if I didn’t drop new Drizzy goods? Fortunately, there is a treasure trove of tracks and hoopla to add to this full-fledged Drizzy of a storm… Late last nite, the track “Love & Gunz” started surfacing on the web. The not-so mysterious leak was from Tha Bizness, who decided to leak the song a day early to show that they could after a Lil Wayne song made it out early. You can read about it on their blog. The track caters to Drake’s grittier side (I know!), but I’m digging it. Don’t worry if you can’t keep up, next week there will be an entirely new slew of mysterious tracks because that’s the nature of this beast.
