“Animals” is the latest by Brooklyn neu-goth goddesses Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard (aka Creep). The tune is what we love to expect from the duo, making us wish we were dancing in long trenchcoats while staring at our feet, breaking out into a sudden flurry of R&B moves when the snare fills kick in.
Creep is two ladies named Lauren (Flax and Dillard) who hale from Brooklyn and have been getting lots of attention for their fusion of dark gothic tones and whipsmart beats. Nina Sky are sisters Nicole and Natalie Albino, who have been kicking around the New York scene for a couple of years, adding nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-school R&B flava to everything they touch. The four got together on this slow jam that just begs to get played along side Aliyah and Kate Bush at a party where everyone (girls and boys) are wearing oversized t-shirts, black leggings and Doc Martins.
Kitsuné is back in a big way; the Parisian music label/clothing line is back with another addition to their signature compilations, #11 aka The Indie-Dance Issue (which is out today). While it has contributions from acts like Beat Connection and Housse De Racket (who are being produced by Cassius’ Philippe Zdar), one of the highlights is a remix of the Brooklyn duo CREEP, whose Young Turks single, “Days” has been revamped by Canadian house specialists Azari & III. Check it out after the jump for the D/L link.

Welcome to the nostalgic vibes of Proper Villains’ mind. While he’s been featured on Discobelle and Palms Out Sounds for his mixes and releases on labels like Nightshifters and Southern Fried, New York City’s Proper Villains is a man (yes, one dude) that delivers something more than what usual people get out of a mix. Whether it be dropping fresh cuts from 2000 or 2010, he takes notice of a sound and runs with it from the beginning to the end. Luckily, he was nice enough to do a special themed mix for URB. Not focusing strictly on current bangers and mash, this mix is a dedication to all things 2-step; past, present and future. For anyone in the States who hasn’t discovered the world of UK Garage, consider this an appetizer to a course that might be too big to consume in one sitting. It’s been a long time coming, but here is a 2-step journey provided by the ever-elusive Proper Villains. Tracklist and D/L link after the jump.
