Late of the Pier’s Singles Club

In a move reminiscent of the early indie days, Late of the Pier is recording tracks from home to release on their own label, Zarcorp Inc., while on break from touring. It’s a promising endeavor for the UK-based band, and they plan on limiting their monthly release to a 500 copy pressing on chic white vinyl. The whole point, Andrew Faley wrote in a mailer, was to preserve the music they enjoy. First up is a release from Pink Stallone, a duo out of Jersey, which he describes as “‘a pretty little disco number/dubby little disco number.’” NME is reporting that Faley also said that the DIY project allows for “‘…complete quality control, selling it entirely via paypal on the MySpace-and a few copies will be stocked in Escalator Records in Tokyo-and processing/posting them all from home.’”

Richard Norris: We were working on fairly psychedelic, widescreen re-edits…people heard a few of them and decided to offer us a mix or two. After a while we …

Late of the Pier – Fantasy Black Channel (Review)

Late of the Pier

Fantasy Black Channel

Producing a new sound with the same old instruments is in itself a daunting task considering what's already been done. Late of the Pier's Fantasy Black Channel enters full force with a sound that, as inhabitants of the 21st century, we have in one way or another heard time and time again. However repetitive, the Nottingham boys maintain their composure and originality. Their instrumentation is akin to Explosions in the Sky sprinkled with some of the infectiousness of The Cars, and all together, attempting to remain ...
