BeatauCue Preview Forthcoming EP, Tour U.S., Australia, Japan (MP3)

Only 20 years old and already the remixers of prominent of pop luminaries such as Kylie Minogue, Mika, and Yelle, BeatauCue are stepping things up even further in 2012 by setting off on a mini world tour as well as by introducing to us a mini mix.

Scheduled to drop on April 9th, “Slow Down“, BeatauCue’s first original composition this year and the raison d’etre for a whole EP’s worth of tracks, features a positively infectious hook, courtesy of vocalist Kenzie May, and some seriously deep, housey synths. Given a series of remixes all its own, the track vibes techno goodness on one of its iterations and Calipso booty bass on another. All in all, Slow Down’s pop power maintains throughout and because we think you’re going to want to play this disc over and over the way we just did, …

Kylie Minogue – Aphrodite (Review)

Kylie Minogue

Aphrodite

Released by Parlaphone

To die-hard Kylie Minogue fans, the Australian nu-disco diva can do no wrong. That's a bold stance for dance music but, really, apart from a (likely) label-initiated plunge into more contemporary, urban-format waters, Minogue hasn't missed a stroke. Her return to electro-pop form on Aphrodite--Minogue's 11th studio record in 23 years--is on point, maybe even better, than much of her discography. The likely culprit? Executive producer Stuart Price who, among other high profile projects, is responsible for Madonna's strobe light opus Confessions On A Dancefloor. Of course, Price can't take ...

Lily Allen Releases 2 New Tracks

Lily Allen’s new blonde ‘do isn’t the only surprise on her MySpace page. The British songstress, whose last material was featured on Mark Ronson’s Version, has two new songs with a new, easy-going electro flavor. The tracks are more reflective in tone but still sassy in lyrics, with a dreamy Kylie Minogue-like quality. She still manages to work in the term “fuckloads,” so her street cred isn’t all but lost with her brown locks. The new “I Don’t Know” is a sort of satirical version of Fergie’s “Glamorous.” Describing the ridiculousness of Hollywood’s standards and “glamour” in the verses, she breaks into truthful confession for the chorus, expressing, “I don’t know what I’ m meant to feel anymore.”

“I Could Say” is a refreshingly un-bitter moving-on song. No need to key the ex’s car or …

Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out of My Head (Review)

Kylie Minogue

Can't Get You Out of My Head

Released by Capitol

Now this is an awesome single. It's intense like a lot of great dance music'you get drawn in without thinking through its pop sensibility and all those Lalalalas. This song was in my head for three days when I first heard it. It's quite cool for some reason, where you find yourself nodding along to this flow it has. I don't know why it's cool because it shouldn't be, but it is. It's a bit English to bring it up, but it's a great example of a pop tune. ...
