David Banner & 9th Wonder’s Death of a Pop Star “Slow Down” video. Wow, first off respect to the people that do their own treaments and videos, it goes a long way. This video just had me silent for a minute rewinding the scenes… Just support that man’s music, cause before he had #1 singles, benefit concerts, and dead prez features he had talent. Real Talk
Mayer Hawthorne’s A Strange Arrangement Instrumental Album was recently released on vinyl and CD/Mp3. Not only is he playing Coachella in April but he recently wrecked the Jimmy Kimmel Stage in Los Angeles.
Emerging from a time when West Coast rap went into deep hibernation, Strong Arm Steady has worked over the past seven years to help California not only reclaim its rightful title as the hip-hop capital of the world, but also to redefine its signature sound. Krondon, Phil Da Agony, and Mitchy Slick, all witnesses to the rise and fall of Death Row, seek to breathe new life into the West Coast rap movement, infusing their creativity, open-mindedness, and musical prowess into the medium and refusing to fall prey to the unfortunate, ubiquitous “gangsta” stereotypes that have come to characterize the scene. With two albums due out this year–the Madlib-produced In Search of Stoney Jackson and the decidedly more streamlined Arms & Hammers–Strong Arm Steady is set to remind music listeners that SoCal is just as musically vibrant as it was during the pre-Schwarzenegger days.
I had the pleasure of seeing Alchemist DJ @ DJ AM’s tribute concert @ the Nike Theater last week, and needless to say I was blown away by his Dj set, headliner Dj Premier, and not to mention Dj Homicide, & Ben Baller who I’ve never even seen DJ! So much talent was there that night, it was unbelievable. It was for a great cause; the Belvedere was plentiful and I got to enjoy burning indoors with staff that wish to remain anonymous. Although, I did see and will show love to Kev Brown, WC, Krondon, Oh No, and MED, just to name a handful of the many artists that were in attendance. I got it in… and everyone only had good things to say about AM, NIKE, Los Angeles in general.
