New Yelle Track, Available Digitally Monday

Almost two years since the success of her sophomore release “Safari Disco Club“, French disco pixie Yelle returns with a single previewing the direction of her sound in 2013. A heavier and wordy-er sound than we have previously heard from Julie Budet, and her co-horts GrandMarnier and Tepr, the track  kicks of with a highly processed voice reiterating the rap, “I don’t know what you mean/But it means a lot to me” and transition into one of the more flawless recordings Budet has laid down thus far.

Populated by musings on tainted love, the track is a surprisingly hip-hop turn for a band that’s made its name on early 2000′s electro sounds. But, the French have always managed to be cutting edge in all areas of culture, so far be for …

Maison Kitsuné Partners With Pernod Absinthe, Continues To Celebrate Autumn In America

As we’ve been mentioning over the past couple of weeks French multi-hyphenate brand Kitsuné has been traversing the country in support of its second “Club Night Tour” this year, this one entitled, “Autumn in America“. What we’ve not mentioned much of is the fact that 2012 also marks the tenth anniversary of the music-cum-fashion label’s existence and that to celebrate this milestone Kitsuné has put out a fourteenth edition of its celebrated compilation series, this one entitled Kitsuné Maison: The 10th Anniversary Edition or “The Pernod Absinthe Edition“. Why “The Pernod Absinthe Edition” you might ask, well, because the artwork design for this release is just another extension of the visual scheme Kitsuné adopted in order to produce a collaboration between themselves and the two-hundred …

Punks Jump Up, Dubka, Saint Savior Collaborate On Addicting New Track + Spooky Video

Michael Jackson may have died some three years ago, but it is a fact that his impact on music video productions has not wound down since his death. Case in point is the amount of time Thriller has, especially since MJ’s passing, been referenced in clips by artists that were allured and amazed at his presence on television in the early 80′s. Today we’re adding a hilarious new clip by Brit Martin Dubka, the English/Swedish tag team of Punks Jump Up, and former Groove Armada lead singer Saint Saviours collaboration on a video for the track “Feels Good” into the pool of rabid Thriller fans.

With a pretty darn infectious blend of synths and punk-y vocals, Dubka and Punks’ sounds follow a roving club goer through the inside of …

The Twelves Talk Influencers and Influencing, Play Denver Tomorrow Night

As one of the forefront remixers for acts like M.I.A.Erlend Øye, and Cut Copy, The Twelves have proven more than just a novelty DJ act over their seven years as a duo. With influences on their remixes, and original compositions, coming from every which angle, they really do pull from a spectrum wide enough to include everyone from Daft Punk to Royksopp, the sound of these Brazillian boys is truly eclectic. Ahead of their Kitsuné Club Night “Autumn in America” tour stop in Denver, João and Luciano spoke to URB about the recent compilation they put together for the French label they’re touring in support of and how inspired they feel by the community of acts they exist within.

URB: Your Two Door Cinema Club remix is absolutely one of my most favorite I’ve …

BeatauCue Preview Forthcoming EP, Tour U.S., Australia, Japan (MP3)

Only 20 years old and already the remixers of prominent of pop luminaries such as Kylie Minogue, Mika, and Yelle, BeatauCue are stepping things up even further in 2012 by setting off on a mini world tour as well as by introducing to us a mini mix.

Scheduled to drop on April 9th, “Slow Down“, BeatauCue’s first original composition this year and the raison d’etre for a whole EP’s worth of tracks, features a positively infectious hook, courtesy of vocalist Kenzie May, and some seriously deep, housey synths. Given a series of remixes all its own, the track vibes techno goodness on one of its iterations and Calipso booty bass on another. All in all, Slow Down’s pop power maintains throughout and because we think you’re going to want to play this disc over and over the way we just did, …
