Video: Kid Cudi/MGMT/Ratatat “Pursuit of Happiness” (Video)

Superstar MC gets a little help from his superstar friends.

I always liked Run DMC/Aerosmith’s version of “Walk This Way.” It gave me a sense of hope that this world could live in harmony….eh, it just sounded great.

Kid Cudi, MGMT and Ratatat have all come together to make a new track to please all of your internet curiosities. “Pursuit of Happiness” is the third release from Kid Cudi’s album, Man on the Moon: End of Day and features vocals from MGMT and production from Ratatat.

The track, which perfectly blends the guitar distortion from Ratatat, the slow and heavy flows of Kid Cudi and optimistic vocals of MGMT, all come together and form the perfect dichotomy of indie synths and hip hop break beats.

And the video doesn’t stop there with hip hop’s ability to deal with conflict and indie’s ability to maintain anonymity (although you can totally tell it’s Ratatat playing along in the video).

Cudi feat. Snoop “I Do My Thing” (prod. Dr. Dre Watts & Ringo) (MP3)

This Man on the Moon demo produced by Austin “Watts Garrick ” and Rashad “Ringo” Smith of Tumblin’ Dice Productions is (another) song about smokin’ and, well, having a good time. So far, these tracks Cudi and Snoop have done together have done well on the web, but this one spins it a little differently–almost acoustic at the end, it’s not a banger as the lyrics would imply.

Dan Black: Symphonies Of The Night

The pop champion takes time out of jet-lag revival to have a chat.

Eccentricity is a valuable thing to have nowadays. In the music world, it can leave an impression; whether it be stark, memorable or shocking, being out-of-the-box leaves a mark. In pop music, we have artists who go too far visually and not let the music speak for their eccentricity, but then we someone like Dan Black, who is the perfect balance of forward-thinking and pop sensibility. On his debut album UN, Black surrounds listeners with tracks that maintain a balance of fun, intuitive and catchy pop melodies that will keep you humming. He’s caught the attention of artists in different worlds (Hot City to Kid Cudi) and attracts everyone to just dance. Before he embarked on his U.S. tour, Dan took a bit of time to speak to us about his origins, his influences and his jet-lag. Check out more …

Snoop Dogg x Kid Cudi “That Tree” (Produced by Diplo) (MP3)

Cudi took some time out of his “busy” acting schedule just long enough to do this track with Snoop off of More Malice, the followup to Malice in Wonderland. The song is about remembering where you come from and features a catchy chorus. More Malice is out March 23rd.
