Salvador Santana
Keyboard City

Salvador Santana knows a thing or two about music. Not just its past, present or even the direction in which it is going; rather, the keyboardist, vocalist, composer and songwriter knows, as an artist, how to steer clear of being boxed into any one genre and utilize his passion for music to its fullest potential. It was his father, Carlos Santana, who taught him at an early age to maximize his love of beautiful sounds. Sal’s musical background has led him to take a full-throttle approach toward what he feels will be pleasing to the ear; and his jazz, pop, Latin and hip-hop influences are apparent on his new album, Keyboard City.
While your parents may be fans of the other Santana, Salvador Santana is forging his own path in the musical landscape. With a debut album, Keyboard City, prepped for a February 2nd release date via Quannum/Various Music, Sal got a lot of love in the studio during the recording process–working with Money Mark, Bay Area MC Del, and GZA–and a lot of love via remixes of the title track.
GZA took “Keyboard City” for a spin with production chops going to The Hood Internet, and Dan Deacon re-worked the remix into a creation entirely his own. GZA and Dan have been interested in working with each other, and with GZA’a latest remix in-hand, Dan had a lot of fun messing around with the Vocoder lines.
