Following up last year’s little smash of a single, Happy House, Mr. Juan MacLean returns Apr 14th, with a sophomore full-length he’s decided to call The Future Will Come.
In case MacLean’s sunny new disposition is unapparent, he’s adding “House” to the upcoming LP as well as previewing the release with a sweet new single: One Day. Blissed-out with little synth attacks and, in what’s becoming a signature style, off-step drum patterns make up the rythm bed of this minimal ditty. LCD Soundsystem co-hort Nancy Wang’s sweet chirp interacts with Juan’s own mockishly deep voice as they tag team in what sounds like a take-off of Human League’s “Don’t You want Me Baby?“. For those of you needing a little disco (or a lot of disco) in your afternoon, MoMa has four hours of DJ sets from the recent DFA party held at the NYC museum. DFA figurehead James Murphy stays off the decks, but the rest of the DFA clan mix it up right with T&T (Tims Goldsworthy and Sweeny), Justin Miller & Jacques Renault, Holy Ghost! and Juan Maclean all offering hour long sessions.
