DJ Wool Mix (MP3)

Glen Brady is mostly known throughout the music world as one half of the dance-friendly duo; The Glass. But his solo moniker, Wool, has been making rounds for his mixes, as his awareness towards the current electronic climate has trickled out into something contrasting from his work in The Glass. The Best Movement-Detroit Afterparties 2011

Dirtbombs Cover Detroit Techno Classic “Sharevari” (Video)

Here’s a little more Detroit techno getting a new makeover for the holidays. A number of Name’s “Sharevari” has been called the first Detroit techno record, pre-dating Cybotron’s “Clear” by a good two years. The tune was custom made for the local Detroit dance party scene, which fancied itself as an urban version of the mainly imaginary European club scene—all Morodoer-inspired glitz and glamour.

Detroit garage rockers The Dirtbombs cover this synthesizer classic in their own expectedly scuzzy way. And the video even pays tribute to Detroit cult classic TV broadcast “The Scene,” which clued in a whole generation of Motown’s ’80s babies to what was happening in the city after dark.

New Model 500 – “Huesca” (MP3)

In the roll-call of techno innovators, now name is higher up than Juan Atkins and his Model 500 pseudonym. In 2007, Model 500 evolved into a live unit featuring techno legends “Mad” Mike Banks, Mark Taylor, and DJ Skurge—all from the equally revered Underground Resistance. Now, the new Model has released their first track together, an instant Detroit classic that sounds like the finest of both crews brought together as one.
