HEAR :: Mike Skinner Live DJ Set (MP3)

What do you do when you’ve closed the book on one of the most acclaimed and influential acts in the History of UK hip-hop? If you’re Mike Skinner (aka The Streets), you keep yourself busy (and keep paying the rent) by picking up a DJ gig here or there.

The MC turned DJ recently took to the turntables at Paris’ Social Club and proceeded to give the crowd a broad selection of tunes from Joy Orbison to A$AP Rocky. Skinner posted a recording of the mix on Soundcloud for all to love.

Exclusive Mix

To start the year off right, URB has brandished a new look on every podcast, with invigorating and simplistic values that represent what we have in terms of our mixes. To start with that message, we begin with a mix from Rupert Taylor a.k.a. the elusively brilliant xxxy. Peeking his way into the hearts of many with his tunes released on labels such as Fabric, Infrasonics and Mindset, he’s become a sought-after DJ to pair up with his fantastic tracks. What’s intriguing about his mix for URB is that one would never expect someone previously rooted in 140BPM beats (now sitting around 130BPM) to put out a mix as diverse and as immersive as this one. Truly an impressive way to usher in the new year.

Unsound 2010 in Krakow, from start to finish, was one of the most daring and endearing festivals to ever come about. …MORE
