Who Made Kanye’s ‘Cool List’?

So far, it seems the democratization of the media via social media platforms like Twitter has basically been the professional media (if you count a lot of barely paid bloggers as professional) reporting on the every missive a celebrity decides to tweet. Why bother? It’s called curation, something us “media professional” like to do in an effort to prove we’re still valuable because we act as a “filter.”

Well now Kanye West is stepping on those toes as well, publishing his own “Cool List” as a tweet. And who is cool to Kanye? “Sade, Ali, Jay-Z, Johnny Depp, Ralph Lauren, Sean Penn, Mos Def, Lil Wayne, Angelina Jolie, Thom Yorke, Ellen, Spike Jonze, MIA.”

This little game is completely maddening in a day and age when one can summon entire catalogues within a few quick seconds on the internet, but in the spirit of the flick, one must match the songs with the appropriate artist. Alice and Wonderland x Tim Burton x Soundtrack! (Video)

Tim Burton’s sure to be feast-for-the-eyes, mindblowing take of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, is set to release in theaters March 5th, 2010. The superstar cast includes the likes of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Michael Sheen to name a few… If you aren’t excited already, why not take a little look at the full trailer below, to whet your Alice appetite. And if the wild imagery, colors, and scenes STILL don’t get your mind juices flowing, peruse the just released track-listing (after the jump) of the film’s soundtrack, titled Almost Alice. The soundtrack will feature a variety of rock, pop, punk, indie artists performing old classics. If the idea of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals remake of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” doesn’t do it for you, well, I don’t know what will.
