Jay Electronica ft. Mobb Deep :: “Call Of Duty (Modern Warfare 3)” (MP3)

Jay Electronica is one of the few MC enigmatic enough to merit extensive coverage of weird home videos that pop up on the web every so often. So we were somewhat surprised to hear a rare tune from the mysterious MC by way of videogame mega-hit Call Of Duty. The tune features a marching beat by Young Guru and a guest spot by Mobb Deep. And reminds us that no matter how obscure he might play it, Act 2: Patents of Nobility, is going to be huge.

Jay Electronica – “The Announcement” (MP3)

Following last week’s annoucement that Jay Electronica has been signed by Jay-Z to Roc Nation, one could have suspected a little hubris from that camp. Of course, that’s fine so long as it comes in the form of JLex (will that stick?) sgnature style—in this case, sampling John F. Kennedy Jr. in his infamous 1961 speech announcing the nation’s goal of putting a man on the moon. It took eight years to accomplish that feat. One wonders how long it’ll take for The Nation to put Electronica’s abstract style on the radio.
