Digital soulman Jamie Lidell is the next vocalist to appear on Simian Mobile Disco’s guest-heavy second LP, Temporary Pleasures. Lidell has posted “Off the Map” on his MySpace Page so everyone can enjoy it Morodering beat and funky Kraftwerk-mmets-Crystal Castles vocals about hanging out “under the bridge” and “off the radar.”

Video director Timothy Saccenti plans a trip to Mars

Chances are you are already familiar with Timothy Saccenti’s work-if not from our very own glossy pages then from music videos for the likes of Peaches, Jamie Lidell, Animal collective, Battles…o yeah, and a Target commercial for the designer Rogan. Saccenti takes on an aesthetic that has been described as “baroque futurism” and is heavily influenced by Le Planete Sauvage, the ’70’s animation from Rene Laloux in which a giant alien race keeps humanoid type creatures as pets. Video: Jamie Lidell rehearsing a new cut

Expectations are high and details remain scarce when it comes to soul-singer/techno maverick Jamie Lidell’s follow–up to his breakthrough disc Multiply, but today Warp dropped a teaser in the form of this video of a live session of an unnamed new cut.

Check Jamie (backed by a live band along with his pile of machines) working it out on the mic atop a snappy funk groove. The folks at Warp offered just these bits of info to accompany the video:
