Tour diary: Luckyiam poops in Pittsburg

Whatupthough?!

I woke up in Pittsburg and I had a hangover (weird) and it's in my stomach cuz of that late-night Mushroom burger I shared with Eric Anderson the Atmosphere key board player. (I think he plays keys better than Alicia…IMO.)

So it's kinda a Good Morning but ehhhhhhhhh. Kan-yezzzy, holla at ya bwoy! 'Ye, honestly doot, that “Drunken Hot Girls” song sucks. Word. I had to get that off of my chest.

Ummmmm, the show in Pittsburg was at this old church converted into a venue. Some old hippie band did this…They are called “Rusted Roots” or somethin' and they bought the whole block for 50g's back in the day and they got the church in the deal…I heard you can buy a house out here for 5g's today. Pittsburg is kinda like …

Lucky gets wise, Slug gets drunk

Good Morning!

Props to Kanye West for picking a perfect album intro. Good job buddy, I wanna work with you, give me a call or a text me doot. I swear I rap better than that Common guy.

(this is what sluggo looks like in the morning)

We made it to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Had to go straight to the venue for load-in. It seems kinda quiet in these parts. Early show, the Heathens aint around yet and Dj Skoo is actually Dj Sku and Greves is Grives, I think. Umm, Brandon from URB says they love the blogs and they want Lucky to be a guest columnist. I says yesssssssss.

Backstage I had a discussion with Nathan Collis (Atmosphere's guitar player) and Sean Daley (Atmosphere's vocal guy) about …

Sound Team No More!??!?!?!

Tags:

I'm speechless to hear the news that the Sound Team is calling it a day. The Sound Team was one of the first bands I heard about when I first started at URB and since then, I've been attached to their (unusual) spasmodic, hook-crazy, indie melody. I could never be disappointed in their live shows or anything they made.

Bill Baird writes in his personal blog:

“The reasons are numerous and boring, so I will spare details. They are the typical band problems: stress of the road, diverging tastes, personal tensions, and monetary difficulties. Nothing too dramatic. Just time to move on, that's all.”

Stones, balls and zombies

2K Sports has been upping their cred as of late. Not only producing games that are actually pretty dope (All Pro-Football 2K8 was alright, but last years NBA 2K7 was the bomb explosive in the most positive way), but for the past several years they've enlisted indie hip-hop's finest to produce the complementing soundtracks to their games for folks to nod their head to.

In the past they had Dan the Automator, and with this year's All-Pro Football they had Z-Trip which saw all the Roots to Rakim to Redman rapping about schooling suckas on the courts or in the field. In continuing that trend, this year is no different. What they've got lined up for this year's NBA outing is that they've tapped Stones Throw presidente Peanut Butter Wolf to compile B-Ball Zombie War, an album with …

Murs Tyson Punch Out, King Hippo pissed

Don't ever say that indie rap isn't hard. And we're not talking about the grind being difficult, we're talking about how motherfuckers will knock you out. Even as we wait around for Murs's major label debut to drop—at Paid Dues/RtB-San Bernardino, he told me that it ain't done yet but it's getting close—there are still gems like this newly (?) released video from Murray's Revenge (his second collab record with 9th Wonder).

Murs really nails the details in this video, but it's not like the pitfalls of 8-bit Nintendo require archaeological digging. Either way, from the uppercut punches to the training scene to blowing on the busted-ass cartridge (nullus), Murs keeps it …
