Tonight Kosha Dillz rocks West Hollywood for an eventful evening @ The Viper Room Binary Star and DJ Abilities while Mac Miller celebrates his record release down the street at House of Blues. Tomorrow he prepares for a grueling 8 shows in 7 day midwest tour and canned good food drive. All in a days work and grateful for what he has, there is no need to complain about where he plays tonight.

@etrainmusic trailer for Upcoming Video (Video)

Glow So Hard (teaser) — E-TRAIN from E-TRAIN MUSIC GROUP on Vimeo.

Although this is only 20 seconds long. I think this is worth watching 5 times. E Train is a producer/MC/engineer out of Chicago currently residing in LA. He has good taste and brings back a rugged and flashy but lowkey, “How to make it in America” vibe.

@TheFrailsf – Heartbeats (Official Music Video) for IndepenDANCE Day (Video)

Danny, Israel and Rob make up The Frail; one of the hottest bands to come out of San Francisco in this indie pop meet fall in lust dance party. In spirit of our nation’s independence (or indepenDANCE) from the British since 1776, let us feature their Heartbeats video the latest form the city of banned circumcision and musical vision. Not only have they have been rocking events from the famous Bay to Breakers to SXSW, but they even have some shows coming up with legends like Dirty Vegas.(in las vegas)

It’s a bluesy, swampier version of Angelo Badalamenti — imagine “Twin Peaks” as filmed in Mississippi — and suddenly, the oppressive heat seems like an appropriate, if not essential, part of the show.

Some Further Thoughts on Goblin

Tyler the Creator, frontman of L.A. hip-hop convoy OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All), won’t admit to it but I’m sure he understands his audience to be predominantly white, suburban, indie-teens-in-training. Let’s try to keep that in mind here, now that there seems to be a somewhat recognizable consensus on Tyler the Creator’s second full-length album and first major label release, Goblin on XL Records. From where I’m standing it seems like folks are a bit dissatisfied. Granted there hasn’t been too many local hip-hop acts with this kind of trajectory since the astronomical rise of Lupe Fiasco, the quizzical introduction of Wiz Khalifa and others, this record leaves a lot to be desired. The album is choppy, draining, and quite lengthy. Some of the standout tracks (“Yonkers” and “Sandwitches”) on the record feel somewhat superfluous since they’ve …
