If you had any doubt left in you that 2012 broke fringe electronic instrumentation through to the mainstream then all you had to do was be present at last night’s Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs show at LA’s Fonda Theater last night. Marked, in no small amount, by the fact that he was preceded by DJ’s as opening acts, the TEED one man effort chugged through a set that had all eyes on the stage and all ears at involuntary auditory surrender. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, July 21st, starting at $750 per person (not including travel cost). Check the full SS Coachella line-up after the jump.
New Build, the collaboration between LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney and Hot Chip‘s Al Doyle and Felix Martin have announced a pending full-length release and tour this spring. The album, entitled Yesterday Was Lived & Lost, is described as a dance record, with ”the eccentricities of artists such as the Human League, Peter Gabriel, Robert Wyatt, Chris & Cosey, Cabaret Voltaire and Eno.” It will show itself on Mar. 5 via Lanark Records. The group will hit the road as an eight-piece unit—we hope with Nancy Wang and Tyler Pope—this spring.
The group released their second, “Do You Feel Loved,” last month, with remixes from Dominik Eulberg and Juju & Jordash. You can hear all three versions and peep the tracklist after the jump. …MORE
