LCD Soundsystem/Hot Chip Project Plan Album & Tour

New Build, the collaboration between LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney and Hot Chip’s Al Doyle and Felix Martin have announced a pending full-length release and tour this spring. The album, entitled Yesterday Was Lived & Lost, is described as a dance record, with ”the eccentricities of artists such as the Human League, Peter Gabriel, Robert Wyatt, Chris & Cosey, Cabaret Voltaire and Eno.” It will show itself on Mar. 5 via Lanark Records. Hot Chip + LCD Soundsystem = New Build (MP3)

Don’t call them a supergroup. DFA artists have always liked to mix members, with Hot Chip’s Alex Doyle hitting the road with LCD Soundsystem as often as LCD drummer Pat Mahoney hit the skins for Hot Chip. New Build continues the fine tradition, with Mahoney appearing on the occasional tune, plus Chipper Felix Martin delivering the lovely techno-pop of “Do You Feel Loved?,” backed by equally excellent remixes by Dominik Eulberg and Juju & Jordash.” The tune will get a limited edition 500 pressing vinyl release via their own Lanark Records.

A great many of these albums actualy ended up on Year’s Best lists, but mostly because there wasn’t a whole lot of other fantastic albums to overshadow them. But you know when the Decade’s Best lists start coming in nine year, most of these efforts will be relegated to the back of the list (if …
