Before there was the pyramid, the art films and TRON:Legacy, Daft Punk broke the electronic music mold with Interstella 5555, and anime film created in conjunction with the duo’s smash second album, Discovery. The film animates the whole of the album, which included Daft Punk classics “One More Time,” “Face To Face” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,” while telling the story of an alien band who are kidnapped by an evil music industry executive and forced to perform as human likenesses. The film was created with legendary anime auteur Leiji Matsumoto, who introduced an entire generation of Western youths, including Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, to the Japanese sci-fi style with his show Space Battleship Yamato (ie- Star Blazers). …MORE
There were times when it seemed like it would never come, but today’s the day that Daft Punk’s soundtrack to TRON Legacy hits the streets, with the film only 10 days behind. Today we also got the official video for, “Derezzed,” pretty much the only piece of music on the film score that offers up that Daft Punk dance music energy.

For all the deafening amount of buzz surrounding Daft Punk’s soundtrack for TRON Legacy, the French duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have be frustratingly silent about their latest creation (dang robots). Finally, the pair have offered up some insite via an interview in the new issue of UK mag Dazed & Confused, which features Daft Punk (or their helmeted stand ins) gussied up in tuxedo vest and bow ties, shot in 3D. …MORE
Remeber last year when all sorts of leaks from Daft Punk’s TRON score hit the internet, all to be revealed as fakes? Well, with three week’s until the album’s official release—an after three solid months of legit previews, leaks and teasers, a new six-minute segment of music has appeared. The fashion forward folks at UK rag Dazed & Confused seem ready to drop a serious robot bomb on 11.18.2010. At least, that’s the gist of what we’re getting from this obtuse teaser video of Daft Punk shot wearing tuxedos and playing with a piano, cello and metronome. Wish we had more to go on, but like everything from the Daft camp, it appears info is going to come slowly and deliberately.
