Four Tet Remixes Grimes :: “Skin” (Four Tet Remix) (MP3)

If 2012 had a single breakout act, it had to be Grimes, whose sublime electronic vocal pop captivated not only the obvious indie crowd, but even caught the attention of Richie Hawtin who surprisingly booked her for his .ENTER party in Ibiza. Combine that with Four Tet, whose talent morphed from head nodders to dance floor lovers years ago and you have a lovely combination to kick off 2013.

Four Tet revealed the tune last night during a guest segment on Rinse.FM. Not an official remix, the producer described the track on his Twitter as “just some track I made the other day using a loop from her record… no remix going on or anything.” What did you accomplish this week?

So as the business card pile collects dust and we all wonder where we were while ASAP Rocky got put in a “Vice Grip” and your car got towed in the $7 dollar public lot after 3 am, lets give you the last of the last SXSW articles. Maybe you went to the Fader Fort and hung out with the Bawss Rick Ross or kicked it with Nardwuar , saw Murs on the street, met Trash Talk, or wondered how the fuck anyone ever made it to Beauty Ballroom which was in the middle of nowhere Austin.

STREAM Grimes :: ‘Visions’ Album

Tags: , ,

Claire Boucher (aka Grimes) has handed over her third album, Visions, to NPR to get the streaming treatment a week before it’s official release on 4AD. The album features an interesting blend of electronic beats and nearly-twee vocals that stand out from the more typical pairing of beats and soulful singers. Like a more goth-y version of Lykke Li.

Stream the album at NPR.
