Phase 2 of Ultra Music Festival 2010 Announced (Video)

The anticipation is building and you heard it here, folks. Phase 2 of Ultra Music Festival 12 was just announced and it looks like the producers are pulling out all the stops to bring the absolute best of the best in electronic dance music. With the festival just over 40 days away, we can only imagine what surprises they have up their sleeves.

This year’s UMF represents one of the strongest and most diverse electronic line-ups ever assembled with the addition of collaborators Damian Marley & Nas, Faithless Sound System, Groove Armada Live, Will.I.Am and ummm..Little Boots. And that’s just the beginning.

Kid Sister Recording With Green Velvet (Video)

Kid Sister has tweeted that she’s hitting the studio with Chicago house legend Green Velvet, whose 1992 classic “Percolator” is probably the only reason the entire Chicago “juke” scene exist in the first place.

This bodes well for Kid Sister’s long-delayed album, Ultraviolet, which is now being pegged for a Nov. 17th release.

Decibel Festival Announces 2009 Dates Converting To Non-Profit Status

The critically-acclaimed multimedia art and music event boasted an attendance of over 13,000 in 2008. Past performers over the years include Autechre, Diplo, Green Velvet, Modeselektor, Apparat, Vladislav Delay, Michael Mayer, Gui Boratto, Justice, Matmos, Derrick May, Carl Craig, Stars of the Lid, Murcof, The Field, Deadmau5, Fennesz, among many others. In addition to these performance programs, Decibel also includes a professional section featuring panels and workshops, serving as a forum for musicians and industry professionals alike.

A community arts festival with an educational component, Decibel has always been “non-profit” in essence, by no means a “money-making”venture for its organizers. However, this year Decibel Festival is making it official and has changed to 501.c3 status in efforts to continue the festivals growth by attracting grants and charitable contributions. Todd Terry

For some it May never have gone away, but house music’s return to the fore in dance music is undeniable. The past couple of years alone have seen the reemergence of some of house’s most seminal names, from Larry Heard with “The Sun Can’t Compare” to Green Velvet (”Shake And Pop”) and DJ Sneak, whose’ been remixing everyone from Sebo K to A Trak and Laidback Luke.
